Welcome to the RMS Art room!
As soon as the brand new middle school art room is complete, be sure to check back here for some pictures of the beautiful new facilities and the students getting to enjoy that! In the meantime though, take a look at some of the components that make up our art classroom!
Art Class Grading
Contrary to what most students think when they first arrive in my class, I do not grade you based upon your artistic ability. Your art grade is equivalent to your level of effort. If you put forth your very best effort everyday, in every project, than you can expect to do VERY well in my class. If you don't put forth your very best effort.........well I think you get the picture!
The content grade for art is determined through the assessment of completed classroom projects using a rubric. The general areas assessed are as follows:
~ Is the project complete and does the student demonstrate
that they understand the skills / content that was taught?
~ Did the student work diligently towards it's completion?
A/A- - Exemplary, outstanding
B+/B/B- - Above average, very good, acceptable
C+/C/C- - Average, not yet acceptable
D+/D/D- - Below average, needs improvement, barely
F - Unsatisfactory, poor, unacceptable
Your effort grade is, surprise, based upon your level of effort.
1 - Excellent effort, puts in 110% on every project
2 - Good effort, puts forth effort most of the time
3 - Fair effort, needs to improve
4 - Poor effort, unacceptable
Your conduct grade is based upon how well you follow the classroom rules, how you treat others and your general behavior in class
1 - Excellent behavior,
2 - Good behavior
3 - Fair behavior, needs to improve
4 - Poor behavior, unacceptable
